Happy Indonesian Independence Day

From the BBC

This looks like great fun to me. Beats the heck out of bingo and raffles.

A spectator watches as youths climb greasy poles to claim prizes such as bicycles and cookers in a traditional game to celebrate Indonesia's 62nd Independence Day in Jakarta.

That would help juice things up on July 4th. I'm thinking the prizes should be toxic chinese toys, fried chicken (fast food, of course) and bags of Cheetos. I'd watch.

I'd try to climb up & snag on of those bikes
But I'm already too tired

People used to do things like this in our country too … before our Independence Day turned into just corporate fireworks shows and patriotic bullshit.

I don't know what I'd climb a pole for. I'm kind of craving a moon pie right now. (They aren't regularly sold this far north).
